Mark, your racing shots are great. I am a big fan of Formula One, so I appreciate the difficulty in getting these shots!! Are you planning to go to the USA F1 race at all? (Mind you, my knowledge of the geography of the USA is quite bad - you may live 100's of miles from Indianapolis!).

Thank you, Sarah! I love Formula 1 and would like to attend the Indy race, though I probably won't be able to, unfortunately. Did you go to the British GP?

Sarah Needham   {K:2482} 9/15/2002
Hi there Mark, I didn't get to go to the british GP this year (lack of money!!) The only year I've been able to go was back in '96, and it was great.

Nice one Mark! Like Sarah I am more inclined towards F1, but i've only been able to travel to one race so far, this year's season opener in Melbourne. I shot many rolls before i realized i wasnt really going to get good pics of the cars..the fencing kept getting in the way(i didnt have a grandstand ticket) and was hard to blur out even @ 300mm(the limit of my humble 75-300 zoom) as seen in this photo. I finally gave up shooting the cars and concentrated on the spectators and all the other stuff happening around the race..and came up with some interesting stuff! That though, is a different story....!!

I know some of those F1 races are pretty expensive for spectators. Hope you can go back soon, Sarah. Afzal, the fences do make it tough (and even photographers with credentials can look forward to things like getting attacked by a Doberman like that poor guy at Spa this year). Shooting the crowd and the surrounding fun sounds like a good idea.
