When we lost people that we love, surely we remember them many many years. This is surely a...'type' of Heavens! At our minds! At our thoughts! Very sad photo Kristina!

Sometimes you just gotta take a picture whether the light is good or not. You've got to capture the mood, the moment, and to use a flash would ruin it. That's what you did Kriss and you'll always have this picture to remind you of your little boy's question. Thanks for sharing that moment. Kind regards, Chris.

Kriss, i think he's still alive, if someone keeps on getting love for so many years after death (and i'm sure he always will)....well i think he never died. He lives in your hearts. The photo is good and sad. ciao!

Yes poignant but down to earth at the same time. Your black humour made me smile, an observation only the photographer could have dared to make. The years are almost identical to my own father, so this photo also makes me stop to think.

I like both the photo and the story, the photo for the suggestive darkness, the warm lights of candles and the impressive subjects, especially the cross with the year above, the story because it's real, moving and funny too, we must never forget that we need a smile sometimes, so the life can go on (btw your son is a great philosopher ;) ). Bye Max

Hello Kristina: Your son's question is magnificently profound. As long as we have fond memories, death is never final. I find the image equally magnificent -- as dark and mysterious as death itself, but punctuated with points of warmth and light. One of the best I've ever seen on UF. --Jim

1988 - I wonder what i was doing that year... I think this picture has a special atmosphere, the combination of your words and picture make the theme a little less scary and "natural". It sure is a part of life that we ave to deal with - like it or not...

Again, one of your photos are connected with a real interesting story. That is one of the reasons why I like your pictures so much. They are often telling stories. I wish my pictures could do that....
Thank you for the story, thank you for your pictures...and thank you for sharing both here.
Your son is right, he is just not dead at all as long he is in your mind and in your heart...
Have a nice day Kriss.

Kristina, This is another excellent picture, a great capture representing perfectly the mood of the moment. I am glad you did not use the flash. Interesting observation about the reflection of the candle, interpreted as the symbol of Playboy (it really represents a bunny = rabbit with long ears.) And yes, my grandfather was also the kindest person to me as I remember. But my grandmother was equally wonderful. Your picture evokes all these memories and I thank you for that. Kindest regards, Alex
