OLVIDADO EN OTOÑO"
Pablo Neruda ("Estravagario" 1924)
Eran las siete y media
del otoño
y yo esperaba
no importa a quién.
El tiempo,
cansado de estar allí conmigo,
poco a poco se fue
y me dejó solo.
Me quedé con la arena
del día, con el agua,
sedimentos
de una semana triste, asesinada.
-Qué pasa? -me dijeron
las hojas de París-, a quién esperas?
Y así fui varias veces humillado
primero por la luz que se marchaba,
luego por perros, gatos y gendarmes.
Me quedé solo
como un caballo solo
cuando en el pasto no hay noche ni día,
sino sal del invierno.
Me quedé
tan sin nadie, tan vacío
que lloraban las hojas,
las últimas, y luego
caían como lágrimas.
Nunca antes
ni después
me quedé tan de repente solo.
Y fue esperando a quién,
no me recuerdo,
fue tontamente,
pasajeramente,
pero aquello
fue la instantánea soledad,
aquella
que se había perdido en el camino
y que de pronto como propia sombra
desenrrolló su infinito estandarte.
Luego me fui de aquella
esquina loca
con los pasos más rápidos que tuve,
fue como si escapara
de la noche
o de una piedra oscura y rodadora.
No es nada lo que cuento
pero eso me pasó cuando esperaba
a no sé quién un día.
