About Lately, I've been trying to salvage a lot of my failed photos by getting creative in PhotoShop. Unfortunately, I don't have much of an artist's eye and a lot of the projects end up looking garish or over the top. I held back on this one and think it looks alright, though it's nice to have truthful second opinions. Yay or nay?

PS work: smudge tool on the flower, and tinted the wings on the dragonfly green so they would stand out a little more. That's it, really. :)

Excellent PsP work. Little too yellow. I dont like flowers photos. Too common. But I do like this one. 7 for your minimalistic approach to a flower.

I might have gone for a more severe crop not to have the out-of-focus flower dominate the image quite so much. The edits are good I think.

Becky,

I agree with Stefan on this one, you might get a crop of the insect, it would then seem ( I think) that the bug is sitting on a yellow wavy sea.

If you look well to my butterfly series you will find that it is all the same butterfly... just used at different angles etc. Thank you for your comment, I will certainly be experimenting more.

I like the original a lot better than the crop... although the image focus is the dragonfly the swirls and lines of the rose are still a big part of the image, leading up to him. The flower and the dragonfly wouldn't have made a picture by themselves, but together they've got a nice symetry going on. Too bad he wasn't a nicer colour!!! Just our luck!

Not so sure about this one, Becky. I like the sharp dragonfly with those wonderful, crystal wings, and I like the intense 'trippy' rose , but I don't think they go together all that well (even though they were together in the image to start with.) I think it has something to do with the color palettes - the dragonfly is in a muted range of greens and browns whereas the rose just explodes with the bright yellow and red! Sorry - I'm not sure what to suggest, though. It *is* eye-catching!

Thanks, everyone, for weighing in with your opinions. :) Dirck: the dragonfly in the pic was a muted shade of brown originally, which makes it a bit difficult to colour him snazzy. But I'll keep experimenting!
