seen in infrared, the most mundane objects turn into gifts from fairyland
and very etherial and light in all their appearances
:)

Chris, beautiful leaf

Jack W. Miller   {K:170} 11/27/2003
Beautiful! They almost don't look real, like they were made from tissue or something. You can actually feel how light they are. One slight hint of a breeze and they'd be gone. Excellent capture!

A stunning image. I really like it. It has got ethereal quality to it. I have been checking out your infrared stuff and it is just marvelous.

How to go chris

Hi Chris, I did a search looking for information about how others were using their d30 to make infrared images and found this one as well as some of your others. I was wondering if you could help me learn to get the same effect as film with the d30. Thanks, Patricia, I can also be reached at patriciao82173@hotmail.com

Hi Patricia,

two main tricks are important for IR with the D30:

First it underexposes about 3 f-stops with a Hoya R72 filter, so M-mode is a must.
Second custom white balance is recommended ... I got best results with shooting in RAW with auto WB and setting the white point while converting to 16-Bit TIFF.

But the used lens is also important:

Let me know, if you need further info ... then it would be better to further disuss it by mail.

Greetings from Germany

Chris

Beautiful shot, Chris ! I love the soft-tone and the texture of the leaf. Nice DOF too :>

Good work !

Cheers ! Bobby
