About This is the front of the Union Station, Kansas City (USKC).

The mission of Union Station, Kansas City, Inc is to be Kansas City?s destination for creative entertainment experiences, contemporary culture, family and civic pride and to convey principles and concepts of science to visitors. USKC stands as the region?s civic landmark. Built for Kansas City Terminal Railway, USKC was completed in 1914, and is noted as the second largest train station in the Untied States, behind New York?s Grand central Station. For over 50 years, the Station served as the area?s transportation hub, with traffic reaching 270 trains daily and processing half of all US military personnel during the height of World War II. Upon the decline of train activity from 1960-1980, the Station closed in 1983. In 1996, four metropolitan counties on both side of the Missouri/Kansas state line approved a Bi-state sales tax to help restore USKC and create Science City. Science City at USKC opened in November 1999 as a newly created science center that employs the metaphor of a city to convey principles and concepts of science for visitors. Each aspect of the City is an immersion experience that places the visitor in a special time and place. More than 465,000 visitors participate in Science City annually.

Thanks for your time.

Excellent perspective shot Khoi. The composition, lighting and focus are absolutely perfect. Extra bonus is the grain structure on the concrete. Very interesting write up, amazing how quickly the mass transport market moved away from the railways. This Science City sounds like a photographers dream.
I think a write up with a picture can often make or break an image but it's suprising how many images have nothing at all. Thanks for a great write up Khoi and keep the pictures coming.

Hi Khoi; this is a beautifully done architectural abstract. I really like the lines, forms, geometry, and complementary colors-- a very dynamic and dramatic image. I also enjoyed reading about the history of USKC. This one goes in favorites too! Thanks and Cheers. Craig.

Mike Ombrello   {K:4878} 12/3/2003
Khoi, I love the perspective you have captured here. I don't know the exact size of the columns, but they appear to be very large. The massiveness depicts strength in the building. Nicely done! Regards, Mike

Craig Garland   {K:27077} 12/3/2003
Khoi-- looks like my 20th rating popped this into a 99% Ranking-- congratulations and well deserved-- looks like I've got good taste;>). Craig.

I'm guessing from your description that this is probably an over photographed icon but this is an interesting perspective.

Khoi Nguyen   {K:8700} 12/3/2003
Dear Craig and all my friends, although the standing is nice to have, it's not really my goal. My goal is to share with you all and enjoy this new field (for me). Your comments, ratings, support and time are always truely appreciated. Thanks very much again!

Graciela Pierre   {K:7318} 12/3/2003
