(Mauna Kea, Hawaii) -- Much of the state is preparing for heavy rains on Monday, but Hawaii's highest peaks are expecting decidedly different precipitation, mounds of snow.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island.
Summit temperatures in the mid 20's and wind gusts of up to 60 miles an hour are expected and forecasters say more than a foot of snow could fall.
On the summit of Maui's Haleakala, temperatures in the mid 30's are expected and forecasters say there's also a possibility of snow and sleet.
