I can see why you love this picture ...she's a doll... I do feel it is a bit flat however ...I would have really loved it if her hands had been in her lap .
That being said your lighting has improved leaps and bounds and you seam to be getting beter at working with people in a studio.... this is a simple elegant image that will stand the test of time ....she will love it I am sure .Really nice capture ...I look forward to seeing more .

I is a lovely portrait and you managed the light very well. The only thing that bugs me about this is how prominent the white arm becomes.

peta jones   {K:12612} 12/11/2003
She's a living doll Karen. Very sweet capture.

Don Loseke   {K:32500} 12/11/2003
Very nice effect. Almost a monochromatic image. I used to use a softfocus lens when I was taking portraits. It was a varible lens so you could create the amount of diffusion that you wanted. Always remember that you lose contrast when you use a soft focus filter so you might want to compenstate for that in Photoshop. Don.

Karen:

What a doll, and a great portrait. Don't misnderstand this
comment, but she looks almost not real, and more like a
porcelain doll. I believe this is gorgeous, and 7s all the way.
Very nice work!

Regards
Your friend David

Karen; I think it's absolutely beautiful-- I really like the soft lighting and the slightly soft focus. Is it just very slightly too soft? I don't think I could tell by the UF low rez version. The young girl looks very "doll like" it's just so perfectlu done.

Karen Siebert   {K:12076} 12/12/2003
I did use a soft focus filter, and I think with the desaturation and soft light it makes it appear a little softer and top that off with the compression factor and it appears much softer on screen than in print.

I am going to post the original version - before ps work and would love to hear everyone's thoughts. I really like this image and want to make it the timeless treasure I feel it has the potential to be. Thanks in advance for your kind words and constructive advice on improvement.
