You chose the best angle of the lens, the best angle of the viewpoint, the placing of the big stone is perfect, either the placing of the horozon. Great work, Phil.
regards
Peter A.

Good composition and lighting Phil.
The colours For me are a little oversaturated. Is that moss growing on the stone?

Phil McLean   {K:11523} 12/12/2003
Thanks for all the coments. The saturation was achieved with a polarizer, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. It is indeed moss growing on the stone, in the pure, northern air... :)

Nice time of the day to shoot this one Phil

More inspiration from Orkney.

Great composition and the lighting has real warmth.
What time of day did you shoot this ??

Phil McLean   {K:11523} 1/12/2004
Thanks Selina; If I remember correctly this was taken on an evening stroll in September. Eday is a nice island, quite peaty and barren in contrast to the neighbouring islands which are green and fertile.

Wonderful pictures with a great color

I'm gald you have these bits of explanation on these........
your sites are so intruiging/arresting/mysterious ( like the Jacobite monument).

this one certainly makes one want to wait for the full moon and dance arond it naked.
