Wonderful shot! Since I use to try this kind of efforts I know what it takes to succeed.
Great!

Felipe Rodríguez   {K:9200} 12/26/2003
Wonderful and not easy at all! I have the 80-400 VR, but the 70-200 is much sharper, according to everyone's outlook. Here the TC doesn't seem to have stolen quality...

man i am so jelous of people who can capture a humming bird. Ive tried so many times but still cant quite get it right. What was your shutter speed on that? was it assisted by flash as well?

Technical comments for those interested. 1/160 sec, f8, no flash, lots of luck.

Simply awesome !

Leslie Cohelan   {K:20887} 1/1/2004
this is a wonderful image...to begin with you have a good dof giving the nice blurred effect in the background which leaves all the focus on your hummer...then you have what I cal a semi-stop action...the wings are in motion but a fast enough shutter to catch some detail...and of course sharp and detailed on the beak and eyes..only little nit is the white on the throat...lost a bit of detail there, but I am not complaining...I'd be delighted to make this shot excellent...hope you have a great 2004...Leslie

So cute. Excellent shot Jon. Well done.

I have been very busy recently. I am sorry that I could see your postings untill today. Glad to see you active in Usefilm.

Fred Lord   {K:4790} 6/7/2004
Jon: Nicely done! The season doesn't really start for the hummingbirds here at 9100 feet of elevation until July. We have a few Broad-Tailed hanging about until then but they're really hard to catch until the others arrive and they stop worrying about us humans.

Gabriella Carta   {K:22879} 10/11/2004
wowwwwwww.. great capture, excellent!

Reza Fakhrai   {K:3059} 5/1/2005
Magnificent capture, Jon. That's a pretty hefty lens, not to mention the extender as well. Wow!
