Brent Mills   {K:730} 1/5/2004
Very nice image. Hard to say if I like this version or the black and white better. they both have good points to them. Very nicely done! Good job!

Mathew Kurian   {K:240} 1/5/2004
Love the sombre colours...almost as if the scene was washed in deep wine......wait a minute, is he holding an electric guitar....wish it were a classical or spanish gat.!!!!

Cherie Spike   {K:-21959} 1/5/2004
Wonderful Peta - the pose is great, and the colours and tones are simply beautiful

Haleh B   {K:3741} 1/5/2004
Hey! This is so cool! I like the Mexican hat and his hair blending into the background. I have said this before but I am saying it again...I can hear his music. You surely have a way of bringing out his talent.

Marília Ferraz   {K:-4496} 1/5/2004
No prblema, with the title, Peta.
You just keep posting your fantastic work and we keep our mouths oppened.
I have no idea how you get to these tones and textures. They are as close to perfection that anything that I can think of.
Hugs and love,
Marília

Hi Peta :) Great colour! I think this composition captures a certain troubador feeling... :) d

Craig Garland   {K:27077} 1/5/2004
Peta; this is nice. I really like the photos you've done of this young guitar player-- composition, lighting, and most of all your sensitivity to the subject are really nice. Well done. (BTW, everytime I go to prepare an image for UF, it seems I default to using PSP rather than PS7 because I feel comfortable working in PSP-- it's going to be a difficult switch to make-- if I can make it at all!!) Cheers. Craig

Roy Vanover   {K:13432} 1/5/2004
Peta,
This is just Awesome! Everything Perfect 10!!!
Roy

Massimo Di Maggio   {K:-55858} 1/5/2004
Great composition, I like the strong colors and lighting, a bit of hard light on the cheek and the knee, but not really disturbing, very good background too. Bye Max

PS: don't worry about the title, I think you don't need it, everyone knows Kevin!!!

Susi Lawson   {K:523} 1/5/2004
I see you love portrait art too, I love your style ,so creative and romantic and striking!!!.

Dave M   {K:9043} 1/5/2004
Strong, vibrant, bold... and yet still as simple and telling a portrait as one could possibly compose. Congrats.

Again, like them both! If I had to choose just one I'd have a hard time. Cheers, Peta!

Emgy Massidda   {K:60226} 1/6/2004
Hi Peta
Back on UF again and hopefully to my everyday rhythm. I can see I missed some of your unique work. This one is really a wonderful image with a great mood. I like it in every way and I particularly like the texture of the wall. It's in perfect harmony with Kevin's cool hairdo. Simply fantastic, Peta! I like it even more than the b&w version. I think colours fit better with the mood and the subject
Superb work again
Thanks for commenting on my latest
*hugs*

Sonia ~   {K:2125} 1/6/2004
Peta, the composition and colours are great. Nice work!

Jamie Ferguson   {K:6284} 1/6/2004
I defenitely prefer this one to the b&w image, it has more depth and character to it, the colours add a rich feeling to it where the b&w left it a bit cold, perhaps it would be better toned rather than just vanilla b&w. Very interesting piece Peta but I'm left wondering over the symbolism of the sombrero.

Lissa Hatcher   {K:3006} 1/6/2004
This one is so much better in color ... I wanted to thank you for the heads up on the filter I really will use it ! It people like you that make sharing a two way street THANK YOU ...
Oh yea I ment to tell you the "nightmare" coat came from hot topics , so it is very likely your daughter has the same coat .

As for this image the texture is OUTSTANDING Great work !

B:)liana    {K:30945} 1/7/2004
I think that the B&W is a little bit better cause I can see his face clearly. BUt this one has a greater and stronger impact and feeling for me dear Peta.
Wonderful job. Kiss, biliana

Alexey Sapa   {K:27168} 1/7/2004
Peta! Can only repeat : Made by Great Master!!! I like the both, they are so different at details of mood, but the both are perfect and very expressive! My best wishes, Peta! ALexey

peta jones   {K:12615} 1/7/2004
Thank you everyone, wonderful comments!
I had a hard time deciding myself so submitted my two favourite versions. I liked the clarity of his face in the b&w, but agree the colour in this makes the 'statement'.

Jamie, I will ask Kevin about the sombrero again, I'm sure he told me at the time. He originally brought it along to have me photograph him tossing playing cards into it...but me and my darn shutter lag couldn't do it. We all gave up after many tries but will endeavour to try again...anyone have an idea how to catch such action with a digital with lag?

Hakan Aker   {K:14146} 1/7/2004
Wonderful shot, and to tell you the truth i prefer this version becauseyou'Re so good with the colors.

David Yates   {K:4698} 1/8/2004
Peta,
Another great one. I prefer this version only because you've matched the tones so well to the mood- your technique is amazing!
Thank you for your kind comment on my picture from the coast of Wales- I have some others from that trip that I will be posting when I get a chance to work on them. If you are ever headed there, I can recommend a wonderful bed and breakfast just north of St. David's- our favorite accommodations of the whole trip. The picture in my portfolio titled "The Cows of Crug Glas" is taken there- it's just a few miles from the 'Watchtower' photo.
Keep inspiring us.
Regards, David

Gregory Fiedler   {K:15439} 1/19/2004
Peta, I really like the black and white version, yet the color of the back ground puts me over of favoring this version. The tones are wonderful. Nicly composed. My highest regards.

Gaetan Chevalier   {K:4188} 2/5/2004
