About Photo taken in Iceland. The road to the Vatnajokull glacier was build in the 70's. Before that time, technology was not yet developed enough to build a road that would withstand the forces of nature. In 1996, a volcanic eruption under the icecap of the Vatnajokull flushed away sections of the ring road, together with parts of Icelands' longest bridge (800m) over the Skeidara. Within 2 to 3 weeks, a temporary structure made the larger part of Iceland accessible again.....

This image was taken on our approach to the glacier, just across the Skeidara bridge, at about 0830 hrs. The haze over the road adds to the magnitude of the image, and is representative of the impressive Icelandic roughness. This photo was not altered in PS.

Comments are appreciated.

Very beautiful, I see two roads, that of the man and that of the nature, wonderful and impressive landscape! I like the lite steam that raises from the soil , it?s charming, the sky is good, only a bit overexposed in my opinion. Bye Max

Beautiful image so well taken, Hugo. I like the play with light and shadows. The mist give a sense of mistery and add more interestinfg to overall.

A wonderful image. I like the way you have composed it with the road receding into the mist. It also brings back wonderful memories for me. Although I live in Canada now I was born and brought up in Iceland and spent my childhood summers in this district. That was many moons ago and this road did not exist then.

I like it a lot! Love the strong lines of the road side disappearing into the haze! Congrats & Regards, Neil

Stunning landscape! Splendid composition. Interesting and mistic mood. Very well done.
My best regards!

Good image - one minor complaint and that is the fact that I would like to see just a tad more detail in the foreground (just a tad so that we have a solid starting point for the trip)...

Hi Hugo, very strong image, the road disappearing in the haze is simply great, very well done, very well seen. The overal picture is very good too, and gives indeed a very good impression about what it feels like over there, I already start feeling a little cold here in my nice warm office. One remark that I have: I have the idea that the picture would be stronger if the placement of the road would be different. Not so much where it stands, but where it is leading to. Now when I look to the image, my eyes follow the road untill it is gone in the haze, and then I have to take them back into the image, they don't really have something that leads them anymore. Perhaps the mountains take that role, but it seems they are not strong enough for that. It may just be my perception of course...
Groetjes,
Bjorn

Groet, Han

sorry, running out of words fast. this is excellent! i really like the way the road disappears in this mist. very much in keeping with your title. i dig the detail in the mountains and how the green is juxtaposed (found a word) with the (seemingly) flowing glacier ice. well done!
