just thought I would mention that when I took the shot yesterday Jan, 16, at 3 pm, it was approximately three below zero with the wind chill here in Pennsylvania. the minolta A1 is not supposed to work right or even work at all below 30 degrees Fahrenheit! with the camera hanging from my neck strap inside my big coat, I got out of my truck could walked down to the stream. pulled the camera out, took the shot and stuck it right back under my coat again! got about 15 shots doing the same thing over and over again! and all the pictures came out fine... so I learned how to use this camera in very cold weather! best regards, jon

Good work. I can almost hear the snow crunch and the twigs snap under your feet.

Jon, Great shot! It feels like a slight thaw... I like the bend in the stream, it takes the eye nicely round the corner. Excellent composition, but it seems to be slightly tilted. Hard to tell, though. The reflection in the pools works brillantly, well captured!

Cheers,

Hugo

dear jon,
although i am not so enthusiastic at winter photography myself, over the years even in that category a few pictures have turned up. this one looks very cold and cool too. the deplorable fact always is the sun, it suggests some warmth and there is none.
the only point to clarify apperas to be the horizon: does this hang to the left or do i only look that way?
this reminds me a little of my 'i@kohn1002 cold creek2', see my hp >landscapes.
thank you for your beautiful comment on 'natural park 'la pedriza'
best regards

Grat chilly capture Jon...I read how you made it...I wanted to add: Just remember to bring an extra battery with you kept under your garments, close to the warmth of your body.
If one dies on you,you change it and warm up again the " frozen" battery....in short you can switch them as soon as they have warmed up! Congrats my friend, Antonella
