About I have recently discovered some fitlers in Paint Shop Pro 7.0 to render a photograph more like a painting. This image is part of my experiments with these new filters, which I am enjoying very much. The effect under the Effect menu was added by using the Salt & Pepper filter under the Noise Filter sub-menu and then the Clarify filter under the Enhance Photo sub-menu afterwards. No USM was applied as it is not necessary. Would be happy to hear what you think.

I don't usually comment on portraits but this one to me is particularaly expressive. It brings to mind all kinds of things she could be thinking about.

I can't say much about the Photoshop effects; I'm unsure what this would look like without them.

I think that the original shot was better than what I see here. I feel the filters didn't add anything - all the contrary, Marc... My personal view on filters is this:

Either you make sure they are very obvious and make the image look like a painting or such in a very spectacular way. Either you just make sure they don't appear at all for what they are. Here, I feel you went half-way. The original was nice though... Regards.

Very well done here Marc. Thanks for the description of your work. I like this one.

Marc, I like this photo of the woman very much. The pose and the lighting work well (in my opinion) to create an intimate mood with the subject. Well done. I wasn't aware of the PS filters until you mentioned it in your description - and I think that is the mark of skillful use of the filters. Sam
