This is just outstanding. So sharp and great lighting. It must be the Fuji camera. No I think it is a great photographer with a great camera. Wonderful work. Don.

Robert,
This is a very nice sharp image , I would be proud to take a shot like this.
Would you be able to tell me how you converted this to back and white.
You did a superb job.
Dave

David, I just desaturate the color with the hue/saturation (ctrl-U) controls. Just slide the saturation all the way to the left. I don't have the channels adjustment in PS Elements 2.0.

Robert,
I am just starting to use Elements ,so this info is fine.
Thanks alot for your help.
Dave

Dear Robert... I am so upset with Fuji right now!!! I have the same camera as you and I can not get images this sharp no matter what I do!!!! I am very jealous at the moment and about to send the camera back to fuji for a going over!!! I have had other photographers say they had to return their cameras to Fuji for a sharpness problem. I admire your work and hope I can resolve the problem with my S2!!! I am seriously looking at the Tamaron lens for mine too!! I have a Nikon lens and I would think it would give the same or as good of results that you are getting. Thanks for letting me see what this camera can really do!!! As for the photo I love the lighting and the expression on the girls face. Reflectors do wonderful for portrait lighting. I used them excusively for my wedding photography and will do so in the future!!! Wonderful Job Robert

Excellent B/W portrait.
This is a beautiful image.
Regards, Nedim.

Mark, I've read where others have expressed the same problems that you've mentioned. Those who have sent their cameras back to Fuji have been very pleased with the service and have had the problems fixed. You might want to call/write Fuji and I'm sure they will fix whatever the problem is. I hear the turn around time is quite fast. It may be you have a bad lens. It happens. Some have gotten "bad" Tamrons too. Trial and error sometimes. I got lucky. Thank you for the comments.

Robert,
Perfect!

Dina Marie   {K:-1006} 1/29/2004
Fantastic! Did you use the silver reflector to do the catch lights in her eyes?

Robert Whiteman   {K:2261} 1/29/2004
Dina,

The catchlights are from the 60" umbrella main flash. The silver reflector is on the left side to fill the shadows. There were smaller catch lights opposing the main ones which I cloned out for a cleaner more natural look.

Tomasz Sarna   {K:1778} 1/29/2004

Best regards Tom.

And adorable subject, but the crispness and tone are outstanding!

Mark Williams   {K:1016} 1/29/2004
I have checked out the lens and the images are still the same with another lens out of the box at the camera store. I am calling fuji and will let you know what happens. Thanks Robert and I love all the images you have posted on here.

Ciana Worme   {K:6805} 1/30/2004
I love this photo! The sharpness is amazing!!!

Louise Vessey   {K:13859} 2/1/2004
Love this type of simple, direct, in-your-face, pose. Her clothing and the background are nice and dark and really help her face and wonderful expression 'pop'. Loverly, just loverly :-)

Pawel Zygadlo   {K:531} 2/3/2004
Beautiful portrait! She's so young, so intelligent, so happy, and so mysterious. Congratulations.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 1/3/2005
super quality portrait, with great light and tones, but the expression wouldn't be the one I picked for making prints.
