About Back again! Wish I could say I was doing interesting things during these whopping great lapses . . . Anyway, this was taken on a cold, dark morning and was one of my first experimentations with combining a teleconverter and macro lens. PS work: curves, unsharp mask, colour balance to eliminate cold tones.

Very good macro, nice details and colours!Congrats!

This is wonderfully sharp and I like the fact that it is not a "perfect" flower in that the tips of those petals (?) are a little discolored. The composition also imparts a sense of fragility that I like. What I am not sure about is the light and what seems like reflections in the purple petals.

A wonderful macro.

Beautiful detail, and wonderful DOF. I am always worried when using my macro filters with an aperture less than f8 (for DOF reasons) but the f4 treated this wonderfully. The touch of green in the background is awesome as well.
My one nit... perhaps a little bit more space at the top, as you clipped the stameny-things off.
Did you grow this?

Nice composition !

Beautiful subtle shades of yellow and purple. Would like to see it sharper.

Thanks again for the comments.

Stefan: I like that it's not a "perfect" flower too. This was taken in October, when the cold was starting to take its toll on the plant life. The light, admittedly, is not perfect - it's cold, overcast white/blue light, which gives the illusion of reflection on the petals.

Kim: if I had grown this, the title would have been "Dead Clematis" :p No, this was taken during my last Pender sojourn.

Everything starts visually at the center of that bloom. Very hypnotic, like brush strokes.
