I, like the others, am dying to know how you did this. The effect of the background is so wild. This is one of the cooler portraits I've seen in quite a while. Great work.

the exposure was handheld for 4secs exposing for the background light, that caused the streaked lights, then i had an assistant off to the left fire a flash just before the shutter closed, which froze the subject in the position you see. The shadowed outline is caused by the shift of the lens/slight movement of the umbrella between the time of the shutter opening and the flash burst, thx
