My preference is definitely with this one, versus the color version. The color version, while quite nice in its own right, seems a bit flat. Perhaps if the colors were beefed up a bit it might be stronger than the B&W version. However, the contrast and tonality in the B&W version is absolutely fantastic. This is such a nice composition too. Well done.

I prefer this version Sarah.....all the tones are fantastic and your composition...the curve of the beach draws the eye right in

I like both ! The b/w gives me more of a surreal and almost infra red feeling with the (almost) blowoff from the left side of the beach, but the composition of the lines really grab me in the color as well..

Hats off for both, I can't decide !!

I think both are great but the B&W is the clear winner. This photo is not "about" color, it's about forms, like the sweep of the foreground channel, and the clouds. I usually ask myself, is color an essential part of the picture's message? (For example, are colored accents directing the eye somewhere?) If not, B&W is usually better.

Great feeling of space, Sarah. Lovely tones and great composition. Well chosen low viewpoint.

Sarah, this is the better one. The curvature and the hills make this shot. Good work. I wish you had shot the color version with a slow color film.

Hi Sarah,
I like the way you are experiment your work, with comparison between colour and black and white. I have to joint me to the others, I also prefer this version.
Great sensation of desolation and immensity, very very good.I envy also your polarising filter!
