About This turtle was sleeping for quite some time right on the beach. A sleeping sea turtle is not very photogenic however. Fortunately for me, a nice wave came up and splashed him pretty good, the eyes opened for only a second...click. They are still an endangered species. Your opinions are always appreciated.

Nice capture and good detail in the textures on the turtle and the sand! I may have been tempted to crop the bright portion near the top as it's a bit distracting and my eye went there first... before descending on the turtle. As always, you make me want to head back to Kauai....

Excellent color and a wonderful catch of an endangered species...just wish for a bit more space to the left so his shell and perhaps a bit more sand and water were seen

He looks cranky! I find the bright water at the top a bit distracting as well. You usually use a polarizer for your shots - was it on the camera in this one? I think the composition is good, but I wonder what a shot angled a bit more to the right (a liiitle less profile and a liiiitle more head on) would have looked like. I don't know how cooperative endangered sea turtles are - would it have been possible to get a macro of his shell (especially around the orange bits) or even his eye?

Just out of curiosity, how big are these guys? (Or girls . . .)
