About My dear friends, when I have a time (not so much) I like to do different things from wood. This one was made from big piece of appricot. It's my favorite wood, reall orange color, wonderful texture, and it's warm when you touch it, and...just alive. I dedicate it to my friend Francis Ombrello, which likes to work with wood too.
Thanks for watching,
Lena

What a creative person you are! This is especially
beautiful in view of the fact you made this with
your own hands. I'm very impressed. Great work my

How nice to find a solemate!
I also love to carve things from wood. I use mostly juniper wood myself, a hard, slow growing wood with great texture. I love to spend a weekend with a pice of wood and a knife and some sandpaper. I usually end up with a small spoon. The feeling when you are really satisfied with the result is great... But, as for you, It's faar to seldom that I can find time and inspiration.

About the photo, I think that the position of the flash makes the bowl look flat. If the light came from the side I think that it would appear more 3D..

regards Mattias

Dod YOU make this?? WOW! I'm very impressed, it's fantastic wood work! Photo is nice and good, not over exposed or anything, but I would still prefer it with available light instead of flash.

Hi Elena,
Thanks for your comments to my "Rainbow Farm" photo, that was taken just before the rain storm, 100% natural nature, no PS work.
This still shot is just great, perfect lighting and well composed, very 3-D feel, well done, congrats !!!

Lena, You did a great job of capturing your carving -- and I like your carving. You are as successful at your second hobby as you are with your photography. It always amazes me to see the finished product from a piece of wood. BTW -- are you carving from a green piece of wood (like I would use for turnings on the lathe) or has it been kiln dried to 6-8% moisture content like I would use in my wood shop? Mike
