About I took this from below as it hung from its stem (couldn't get low enough, and couldn't see too well, so lost the bottom of the bloom). These hang directly downward and you'd pass by them without seeing this, unless you know it's there.

I wonder why your's hang downward, my mother-in-law has these vines all over her house and they don't hang down - I will say this - after shooting them in various conditions, the best light is on an overcast day...

regarding your question...I have a Sigma Macro lens but it is in being rechipped for my new camera (with which the shot in question was taken) the digital rebel. I have made myself a homemade macro lens and that is what I used...It is simply a projection lens placed into the a body cap...therefore it has a set focal length and magnification...the best I can determine the magnification is approximately ten times...
