If the images are taken for this specific purpose, then it might be possible to control the gaze in such a way that in the composite, the eyes end up looking like they're coordinated for a slightly more comfortable final effect.

This is a pretty cool effect. Very well thought of and executed. Nice eye catching experience. (pun intended)
There seems to be quite a bit of black space at the top of your image. I think the middle placement works due to the symmetrical nature of your subject, but I'd crop the excess black space. The lighting highlight on the forehead poses a challenge to unify if you're looking to truly create a polished illusion.

How rad is this?

very interesting photo. fascinating experimentation and courageous besides. the skin tones are wonderful...remind me of 19th century portraits done in oil paint. I think the composition is very formal and elegant, which adds to the strangeness of the subject.

Am sure you have tried the image in all its transmutations; but, I think I would try to remove some of the blur in the neck area. I'm probably missing your intention though.
good work.

thank you for your lovely comment.

thanks for your comments
It has been a real experience doing this experiments, there are so many variables to have in mind.....just starting
B, the blur in the neck is inevitable due to the movement of the subject, anyway I will try to see what i can find in further takes with that in mind..
Jim, thanks for your suggestions, i will try to change the lighting and see what changes it will bring...
Toph, I know the eyes are a bit wierd, I like that effect, gives the image a bit of cubism where there is different timing involved, but I think you are right anyway..

Monty Emken (Ostracon X)   {K:4804} 2/8/2004
Super creepy! I love it!
I agree with Jim on the cropping idea. Less neg space would tighten the image up.

Nice work Maria!

Carlos Romero   {K:1027} 2/13/2004
Esta foto não é apenas uma foto divertida. É muito mais do que isso. Se há cubismo em fotografia, este pode ser um caminho...

Carl Sills   {K:289} 2/19/2004
Really dig this one, the negative space gives that extra oomph of unsettling feel.

Gertrud Gozner   {K:14222} 4/4/2004
great effect!
