The log probably started as a seedingling around 1895... so somewhat before protography appearsed in Suisse... and certainly older than the viewer or the photographer!
Was skiing a fortnight ago in Villars and stopped for lunch with a view of a like structure... where the logs were somewaht chewed by the horses it housed...
So how many rings in the tree?
