About One of my favorite shots showing an OU gymnast doing a dismount from beam with a judge looking on (really like that!). The gymnast is in about as good a focus as can be achieved and the look of concentration combined with body position and her attention to detail (e.g., pointed toes, tight body, head position, eyes, etc.) is amazing. And who said football was tough?

to my favorits!

Dan, this is a really good shot but I have taken the liberty of just changing the composition slightly. I think the beam is too strong and takes my eye away from the dynamic tension between the girl and the judge. What do you think? Regards John

Dan:

Another excellent catch. I'd rather watch a 100 of
these as opposed to one football game. Being out there
like that all by self, AND being judged IMO has to be
much more difficult. I'm always absolutely amazed.
GOOD SHOOTING!!!!!

Regards
David

First, thanks everyone for their kind words! I was interested in John's suggested crop, but can't decide if by removing the beam there is a loss of reference to the shot? I've been trying to keep the apparatus' in the photos for this reason - should I worry less about this and more about the athlete? Does keeping a frame of reference with the apparatus even matter? Hmmmm....
