the fate of all religions without believers (although thee are some left, I think - as the irreverent behaviour seems to be part of shiite fundamentalist hostility against zoroastrian 'fire worshipping')

Nice shot. Nitpick, but there's a dark spot in the right top corner.. As for the heretidge list, I guess the status blown up by the taliban were on that list too.. Tolerance and a standard of life high enough to care are what are needed to protect these kind of history.. after all, many a church or monastry in europe also disappeared because the farmers needed stones for their houses.. A roof is often more important than an acient pile of stones..

I'm reminded of this old song:
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone They paved paradise and put up a parking lot...

A 'close-up finale' to a fine documentary series from the 'Serial Man' and I am not talking 'corn flakes or granola', but imho not one of these three images should maybe be rated (and I won't nor haven't) because I know you are making a quite serious photojournalistic statement of deteriorating conditions of a specific society although that is reaching global proportions!
Thanks for sharing your most sincere concerns and Best of Regards!
P.S. Are you or have you perhaps working on a editorial to be published?

(rijden zonder helm is gevaarlijk!!) Hele mooie serie (alweer!!) Groeten, Lex

The first two images give a good overview of the site, and the tracks in image #1 and the appearance of the motorcyclists in image #2 give a hint of what may be going on. But this image immediatiely confirms the suspicion of the previous two: the historical site is used as a motocross track :( Image III does not need a story, it speak for itself; therefore, as a journalistic photo, I think it is the best in the series...

The signs of the times....such a contrast between the past and the present. So well presented! And I like seeing a 'bit of history', something I've not seen before. (this building, that is) Picture also says 'boys are the same all places'...:)
I also like the composition of your photograph, very nice!
L ori :)
ps...thank you for your very nice comments...(also isn't it nice to see all the different places in the world, and all the different cultures?)
