Hi Lori, Impressive shot, the sphere stands in high contrast with the almost over powering clouds. A beautiful combination of technology and nature. The (power) lines leading to the weather station open up the composition and add a great deal of tension to the shot. Outstanding quality, my compliments!

Cheers,

Hugo

I hope the NWS bought this one. It's a great shot. Stunning is a better word. The deep blue sky and those billowing clouds makes the radar tower stand out.
Jimmy
P.S. I can assure you that my computer desk only looks as good as shown in my photo only once in a blue moon. If the clouds would clear maybe I'd go out to night and see a blue moon.:-)

Looks like somewhere in San Diego County.

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 3/1/2004
Amazing quality shot, original choice of the subject.
A very beautiful construction standing high against an impressive cloudy sky.
Great clarity and lighting, fantastic colours, beautiful contrasting shapes
Superb capture, Lori
Very well done!

Lori, you made a very mundane primary subject work well in this picture because of the beautiful cloud formation in the rear, my friend! very very nice work!....jon

Randy Lorance   {K:24958} 3/1/2004
Looks like a giant egg shaped soccer ball. Interesting object, great clouds.......Randy

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 3/1/2004
Such wonderful composition and so interesting this "ball"! Very beautiful colour combination, and the clouds and that hey are so loew down, adds even more interest! Very good!

Joshua Rainey   {K:5069} 3/1/2004
Nice shot Lori. I like how the clouds in the back almost look like something destructive coming towards the ball...

Paul Lara   {K:78573} 3/2/2004
What a great story...the radome in the foreground, with an active, building cumulonimbus in the background! Nice shot, Lori!

Hi Lori
This is a special shot of an unusual object. Looks like a giant soccer ball, ready for kick off into these dangerous looking clouds. Fantastic perspective, great composition.
Thanks for your very kind comments. The Tulips, Lilies, Roses etc. were taken at the florist's, cause except snow we got nothing!!! So I went to a flower-shop and took some pictures there. They got exciting flowers, but it is quiet difficult to capture them well. So sometimes I cut them out with ps. But I promise: Sometimes it will be springtime even in Switzerland and then you will see the flowers in our garden! Best regards, Brigitte

This is a good scan, letting the dark areas go and concentrating on the subtle gradations in the clouds. I really like the composition. If I were the NWS, I'd be pleased with this one.

I am an old radar operator and I love this shot. Nice comp.

Jamey Zunz   {K:1049} 3/12/2004
I used to drive past one of these on the Pennsylvania Turnpike about ten times a day for a job. It always messed with my tape player...It would make it go zzzzzzttt zzzztttt and it would get louder and louder as I approached the tower.
Drove me nuts!

Très futuriste, very nice!
