Barry, you have some very beautiful landscapes in your portfolio. This one is no exception, shame its a little 'shaken'. As you rightly say, it needed a tripod to really do it justice. The composition in all of your landscapes is very well thought out, you obviously have an eye for composition.

Hi Barry, True words of wisdom here on UF! Impressive shot, I like the unusual perspective, looking down towards the vilage, in stead of capturing the entire scenery. The apparently random straight lines in the field, the use of various levels of distance, from the walls, to the trees on the small incline and on towards the vilage in the distance. Perfect! The moment, with its soft light and the still frosty parts in the shadow and the slowly waking up vilage (in my imagination, at least), with smoke coming out of the chimneys is beautiful. The soft tones enhance that atmosphere perfectly.
The only thing that I find slightly disturbing is the willow and the wall in the lower right corner. I think I would have cropped it off, because it does not add anything to the rest of the composition.
Very well done!

Great composition and light capture, Barry. Intriguing with the smoke of man's burning behind the gorgeous natural foreground, though I suppose the lines of the walls in front are also man's work. Well done.
-Thanks for your comment on my "Portal". The colors were in the original capture, emerging as you see them through PS fiddling with brightness and contrast.

I couldn't agree more. your picture makes me want to run down the hill and over to that mound with trees where I would inveritably squat down take take some images. and yet, standing on the hill, breathing in the cold invigorating air . . . . what a nice afternoon
