notwithstanding the underlying story behind this image....this is a great photograph in its own right...it doesnt have to be the border... for some reason ...i love images where the colour is so underplayed...it actually looks like a bnw shot in the thumbnail... great shot..

I've always been fascinated by borders - actually the same land but seen from a different perspectives. Of the most intense I've crossed is the one between Jordania and Israel, also from Syria and Turkey. I even remeber the one between Mexico and Belize.
It makes me wonder about the distance felt between flemmish speaking people from Belgium and the Netherlands..
Oh, and the photo... Nice perspective, definetely. The mist is also of interest and perhaps a wider angle shot, that would have kept the first tree out of sight, would have opened a window onto the misty border. But fine as it is.
