About This shot was taken during the recent vacation. Just making pictures of the white mountains was very flat and dull. I passed this scene and knew this was the perfect frame. Please tell me what you think, landscaping is an unfamiliar area to me.

Hi Tim, I think it is an excellent composition, very well balanced and all. I don't know if the Ricoh can do it, but I think you need to overexpose a bit more (+1EV or even +2EV) It'll give the image a bit more saturated colours, and prevent the overexposed spots (sounds strange, but that's what I did in http://www.usefilm.com/image/312810.html, also a snowscape.... (not a desert, as you commented....;o) I overdid it, though.... With +1EV, the shuttertime is (roughly) multiplied by 2, and that causes to cast more of the dark tones onto the film. In printing the film the overexposed negative is corrected, balancing the tonal range.

I've attached a version in which the saturation is a bit increased, and the brightness a bit decreased.

Great shot, though!

Cheers,

Hugo

dear tim, great photo, excellent composition, veru splended lighting, a little more contrast could make this shot even more beautiful.

Groetjes - Emgy
