About Contemplating the next move. Hit, Hold or Fold? Making the right decision is the difference between poverty and wealth..

To continue where we left off....;-) This series is composed of the first few shots I've ever taken with my Yashica. Other than framing no PS work, the tone is deliberately printed this way. Your comments are, as always appreciated...

Yes, magic and also a perfect light for that...
Jeanette

Hi Hugo, another nice one! I like the card in the bottom right of frame to balance it out, and i like the soft look. I would have preffered everything to be a little closer together. But it's also nice giving the light in the midde some breathing space. Nice work, Neil
PS Thanks for your comment but what does ROTFL mean? Not so used to this Internet-SMS jargon

B:)liana    {K:30945} 3/25/2004
NOw, this one is perfect for me. Only one pair of hands and great empty space and lighting.
I love it. good work here dear Hugo

Commenting on my own photo: My only problem with this shot is te edge of the table. I would've liked it disappearing / blending into the background. Still, I decided against using the attached alternative, because I think the atmosphere in this one is stronger and less chaotic. Any thoughts on this? I'd appreciate it!

Cheers,

Hugo

Hello Hugo!
Nice photo, intresting composition but this bright tones of dark :| Well anyway its good shot; Maybe you will capture a card "in fly" ?? This shoud adds some more dynamic to scene.

Regards.

QUESTA E' PROFESSIONALITA' DA FOTOGRAFO ECCELLENTE COMPLIMENTI CIAO SALVO

Raoul Endres   {K:2676} 3/25/2004
I like the photo, but why the tone? is it because you wanted the cards overexposed like that (which looks good!)?

Jani Salvataggio   {K:26829} 3/25/2004
great composition and idea!
regards
Jani

Paolo Grusovin   {K:3344} 3/25/2004

Good mood and lighting for the the scene. Good work. Rob.

Richard Thornton   {K:26442} 3/25/2004
I like this one, too, Hugo. The line of cards leads the eye to the hands.

Again, great tone and composition. I like how the focus is on the cards in the center.

Well done...

WALT MESK   {K:10731} 3/25/2004
molto molto bella.eccellente composizione.walt.

Darrin James   {K:3944} 3/25/2004
Very cool shot Hugo. There is a tension portrayed in the photo that one could really imagine in a game of poker. The slightly out of focus hands adds to the mysterious nature of the player. Superb

Kees and Carolyn    {K:15193} 3/25/2004
I like this one a lot. I like the tone and the lighting. I especially like how the one pair of hands in these surroundings can express so much!
Much tension in the air.
Carolyn
P.S. I see you're Hugo again and not n/a! Hooray!

tom rumland   {K:14874} 3/25/2004
hugo, very nice. i really do like the "disembodied" hands effect. it gives it a more mysterious feel. the story less defined and more personal to the viewer. although, i agree with you, the edge of the table is a bit distracting. hey, you could break your rule and fire up PS ;^) on a slightly different note; why does the far corner of the table appear to be curved upwards? the front edge appears to be quite level. is it the camera doing it?

btw, thank you as well for your comments. also remember that without your photo there would be no critique. how do you figure they pick them? maybe randomly? the fact that my comment made the front page makes me sure that it's a random process ;^)

Raamses Ortiz   {K:4408} 3/26/2004
Excellent photo Hugo. As I always said, You don't need color to emotion and tension.

Congratulations!!

Raamses

Saeed Al Shamsi   {K:47538} 3/26/2004
The distance between the "hands with cards" and the bottom "cards" are well balancing the whole composition, the space between them is great impression,if little bit of darkness on the right top corner, will be perfect "mafia game",lol,Saeed

You said you would like the edge of the table to disappear in the background. Reading that, I must confess that I was expecting some smoke in this image series :) Maybe that could also be a solution to your problem?

Peter Domotor   {K:1854} 3/31/2004
Hi Hugo,

nice series, this is the leading one for me, great tones, secret and soft lights. I like the composition concentrated diagonally.
no creative comment from me, absolutely immaculate shot.

durmi

Lovely photo Hugo, my 11yr old son made me comment on this as he/we were watching poker on our local satellite channels last night from US. It made a refreshing change from the other rubbish on television lol
Thankyou also for you nice comments, I often return here because you have an outstanding portfolio Hugo :-)
