About An abandoned mine, five minutes outside of Drumheller.

I haven't been submitting much lately because I've been superlatively frustrated with a) trying to find a decent developer and b) trying to scan slides and prints with a scanner that beats the living daylight out of the originals. In the meantime, I've gone PS crazy, going back in the repetoire and trying to make bad photos better. Originally this was a washed out, blah-and photo. I converted it to black and white, did some channel mixing, then recoloured the ground to try and make the scene a little more fantastical. What do you think?

I think it is quite fantastical. It looks like a vegetable garden on Mars to me. Really good work, but I think you should have toned the sky as well and not left it as a strict grayscale, as that separates it from the rest of the landscape right now.

A very good shot! Dramatic and with warm colours! Good job!

Becky, I think you did an amazing job with this! The end result is a very eerie and dramatic landscape that looks like something between an infrared and a moonlit photo! I love the contrast of the grays and greens of the sky and brush, and the reds and browns of the earth. Wonderful, foreboding sky, too!

I like that effect; especially the patches of colour in the almost greyscaled grass add a lot of depth. But I wish the toning on the hillocks should have been a little darker, I mean rich but not bright.
