About Taken at Lake Wakatipu near Queenstown a few weeks ago. Breathtaking scenery. I realise the top of the image is washed out but I haven't yet mastered Photoshop so would appreciate any feedback on touch ups! Also, I haven't cropped the image at all and would appreciate any advice on improving presentation. (pls ignore exp info - not recorded and not able to ignore in new site! :-) )

I worked a little on you photo. I adjusted the brightness/contrast, some color adjustment, Adjusted the Levels and added some clouds. No Cropping.
Please let me know what you think and if I can help in any way I will.
Thanks for sharing.
Shawn

many thanks for your comments! thank you so much for taking the time to work on my photo too Shawn - looks great ...only thing is the sky was perfectly clear as shown in reflection - shame to make cloudy! :-) your help & feedback much appreciated. cheers, jo

The reason for the clouds was to break up the extremely bright sky.

I used the new shadow/highlight adjustment filter in photoshop 8

I adjusted the top over-exposure with a levels adjustment layer, applying a mask to limit the correction to the top of the image. Then applied another levels layer to entire image to slightly nutralize the yellow color cast, and to slightly darken the midtones. Then used the Lightness channel from the LAB color mode, blended back into original at 30% opacity and overlay mode. Sharpened finally w/ Filter>other>Highpass, blended into original at 100% on overlay mode.

These changes can be greater seen on larger res images
