Excellent portrait!

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184981} 4/1/2004
Very strong portrait, Roy! I like the use of the foreground to illustrate character of the man. Also infulenced, ofcourse, by your narrative. He sure looks fearless and tough. Great shot, and a perfect DOF. The rear rim of the hat being out of focus does it for me.... Very impressive.

Take care,

Hugo

Andrej V   {K:6693} 4/1/2004
Very nice portrait! good DOF, sharp and perfect background... Good expresion on the mans face, lightning is very well chosen, so the black face didn't come out too dark; However the leaf crossing the mans face came out a bit distracting in this point of view.Flower on the left is a good element but you should keep it more on the side. Now it is coming too deep into the picture and it is covering your main object.
Still a great work!

Wonderful shot in composition, DOF -- HEY HEY how do you LIKE THAT LENSE I should ask! A 2.8 - caching! D100 very nice, still working myself around, a slight shutter lag on it, it will take some to get used to... Excellent across the board - 7s keep em coming! Regards, Cindi

P. Christine Skinner   {K:27338} 4/8/2004
...and a fitting tribute it is, photographing "Chamu" while in his element. The colour and composition is excellent. His expression of mixed intensity and gentleness is quite extraordinary. The detail you have captured such as the folds in his hat, the angles of his face and the colour of the leaves with the dew drops ready to fall really stand out against the soft flourish of the background. Fantastic lighting. An arresting portrait of an imposing man ..Christine

Leora Long   {K:9989} 6/17/2004
Roy, This photo has really stuck in my mind. I have been away from Usefilm for quite a while and made a point of looking at it again.
It is still mesmerizing - the color, tactile lighting, mood, surrounding moist ambience with droplets in the foreground and sprays of soft foliage in the back, but most of all the intensity of character of "Chamu", not unaccustomed to danger. Cheers, Leora.
