About From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone. (e.a.poe)

Karen Siebert   {K:12076} 4/9/2004
This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! As many others have - I add this masterpiece to my favorites folder. I love the tones and "heavenly" or "other world" feel of this image. My passion is children's photography and this is SUPERB! I would love to know a little more about this image. Was the little girl added to the image? If not, how did you light her while maintaining the light from the glowing sun. I am very interested in any alterations you made to this image......Just super work.

Joann Winborn   {K:12550} 4/9/2004
I looked at this photo and my heart was stirred beyond words. You have touched my soul with this wonderful image. Many blessings to you and yours.

P. Christine Skinner   {K:27380} 4/9/2004
This is an incredible piece of work. It appears to be so uplifting with the heavenly light, the surge of billowy grass and the little girl looks angelic. That is my first and immediate impression. On viewing the image for awhile longer, ominous qualities emerge. Yes, there is the child's dream of a swing on a tree. Every kid loves one...but the tree appears to be dead and even with its perfect shape it is tangled and grasping. The clouds are heavy and foreboding as if waiting for something to retract the perfect rays of light. Look where the little girl is staring, at the shadow from the tree as if they are drawing her in and she is reluctant as suggested by her arm and hand which are not relaxed. Even in profile her expression seems worried. Presenting it in black and white reveals more than colour could have done. For me anyway. Congratulations on a reverberant image ..Christine

Alberto Agnoletti   {K:12808} 4/9/2004

luis pereira   {K:22507} 4/10/2004
This wonderful image creates a friction between emotions. I am not sure about the state of mind of the child. I've been looking at it for a long time and i've decided she is the happiest person in the world.
And what's hanging from the tree?

Grisellidys Alsina   {K:978} 4/12/2004
Amazing! I'm speechless....breath taking....Regards

lovely

Kate MacGregor   {K:28} 4/12/2004
This is a very dramatic image that conjures up mystery and magic. I love the contrast between the light and dark as well as the innocence of the subject compared to the ominous sky spouting rays of light and hope.

Luther Chong   {K:3585} 4/13/2004
Beautiful capture of the child in a peaceful setting. The clouds and rays of the sun add to beauty.

iasha ammoush   {K:237} 4/15/2004

Roger Williams   {K:84100} 4/18/2004
Lars, I am fascinated by the beautiful image and the poem. The appeal of the photograph, although mysterious, is accessible. But despite the fact that English is my native language I must confess to being mystified by the poem... I must see if I can find a commentary. If you know of one, perhaps you would be kind enough to introduce me?

John Loreaux   {K:86129} 4/19/2004
Perfect photo in every way! Just a pleasure to view! My best,JOHN
