This is really cool, Becky - made me think of the 'fog' coming off of dry ice and hugging the ground... The various shades of blue overlapping and overlaying one another in the water are beautiful and give an almost glowing effect to the little waterfall, while the green branches above do a great job anchoring the waterfall, and giving it some context. Without them, it would be a cool abstract (almost looks like a nebula through the Hubble!) but I really like them there. Which brings me to the one thing I find distracting, and that is the long bright branch in the upper-right. The leaves themselves are nice, but for some reason my eye keeps being pulled to that line. Maybe you could try toning it down or even cloning it out entirely - I think the leaves would still hold together without it :) Another great job rescuing a shot with great potential!

Looks like a great shot but a lot has been lost in the transfer to digital (and in the print too from what you say). If there is detail in the dark area around and below the waterfall, it might be nice to tone down the foilage a little. To me the leaves and branches do not help the serene image of the fall, but you do need something more to provide context for the water... Maybe do what Kim does with her slides?

Becky, As always you seem to be the best critiquer of your own work :)
This composition is striking with the over hang foliage and the silky dreamy water flow. Lost of detail between the two is a real shame.
For the fun of it, I pulled it into PS, toned down the 'bright branch' as Dirck suggested (improvement). Cropped the lower black to the edge of the flow to reduce the overall black (improvement). Even tried to clone in more leaves to bridge the empty gap, but the space between is really too great. Having said that, my PS skills are worst then pathetic really.

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments. I'm definitely going to reshoot this waterfall (actually, water spilling out of a culvert) and perhaps try it with a different camera and/or different film. Thanks for pointing out the branch - I never really noticed it before!
Audrey - if the attachments are working, please feel free to post your "fix" - I'd love to see it. (Same applies to "Ambleside"!)
