About The latest from my plasma series - only a few more to go, I promise! This, as with the last, was played with a bit. After scanning, I duplicated the layer and rotated 180 degrees to create a more balanced image. I think it worked quite well.

As always, your comments and critique are very much appreciated. Thanks for viewing.

wonderful and creative, i have a question and i hope you will answer me, you wote in the film info;Fuji Velvia 50, pushed 200, what do you mean with pushed, and how does this effect the film and the photo. regards

Hi Moe,

Thanks for your comments. 'Pushing' means having the film developed as if it was a faster-iso film. Therefore, I loaded Fuji Velvia 50, but set the ISO in the camera to 200. If this was developed at the films rated speed, the image would have been 2 stops too dark. Asking the lab to 'push 2 stops' developed the image correctly. The reason for doing this is that the Plasma moves very fluently, therefore the faster the capture, the less the plasma will blur. I could have just as well used a faster film if I had some at the time.

Push processing can reduce colour saturation and introduces more visible grain the further you push it. However, Velvia seems happy to be pushed at least to ISO 400. Remeber to clearly advise the lab that you require pushing and how much. I would only push if I had a need to do so though.

I hope this helps.
