Hi Carmem, very nice - i'm sure Kees and Carolyn will be flattered. I like the composition and the colours. Its a little noisy, especially in the sky but that doesn't bother me. I downloaded a trial of neat image the other day to try and combat noise. Haven't tried it yet. Maybe i could use your image as a test? beautiful photo, my compliments. greetings neil

Linda foto Carmem! Olhando ela por um tempo, esta foto nos passa uma sensação tranquilidade.... adorei isto.

Vejo que de vez em qdo vc solta uma da Olympus! Você fica intercalando com a Canon ou eh foto de seus arquivos?

Um abraço...

[] Murilo

Carmem A. Busko   {K:48767} 4/16/2004

Carmem

Kees and Carolyn    {K:15193} 4/16/2004
Wow! What a surprise to wake up to! Thank you very much; it's so beautiful! Beautiful mountains with the pretty green island, and even a canoe! Kees, who is standing over my shoulder is saying, "That's beautiful!" We like water scenes! Gorgeous blues! Great shot and perfect framing!
Carolyn

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 4/16/2004
Hi Carmen, Good connection to K&C! It does have a (strong) resemblance! I like the hard tones as well as the scene. The boat livens up the image very well, but perhaps the photo could've been a tad stronger if it was placed a bit lower to the right. By placing it dead center, I think you remove quite alot of the tension and atmosphere, that was definately there. Still a very good shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 4/16/2004
Absolutely beautiful, Carmem! I love the range of blues, with the fading mountains in the background, broken by the lovely green island. Sometimes, as in this photo, centering the subject works nicely - I think because of the little wake behind the boat which adds interest off to that side. I also like the positions of the three boatmen, all with their arms extended in mid row! Really excellent!

Carmem A. Busko   {K:48767} 4/16/2004
Hugo, thank you for your comment: I always learn with your kind words (and observing your work too).
This was a difficult shot.. I?ve explained to Murilo, above (sorry, in portuguese): I usually carry 3 cameras... the boat was moving far away, so, I decided to take the Olympus and my 28-200mm and stayed waiting they pass that small island..
As you and Neil observed, there as a noisy atmosphere.. and I didn?t like the picture when I saw it .
I wouldn?t upload this image... but K&C work with blue seascapes made me change my mind and to dedicate it to them.
About colors: curves in PS helped a little.. the original was almost blue duotone.

Thank you, again.
Carmem

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 4/16/2004
Hi Carmen, I exactly know how it feels: carrying three cameras....) But it's all worth the effort! But you did a great job on the level tweak. Thanks for your reply!

Cheers,

Hugo

Carmem A. Busko   {K:48767} 4/17/2004
Hugo...it is not an "effort" :) ... my digital A300 camera is not good.. my Olympus is...but film photographing is expensive...and a like my "old friend" Pentax Espio in some situations... :-* .so that, when we go out to photographing, my dear friend Márcio (UF22258) carries my cameras in his bag..with his Olympus 5050... he is a gentleman, isn?t he? ;) If there is an effort, it?s from Márcio in pleasing me..

I?m planning upgrading my digital camera next month... not an expensive one, but better. I?ll appreciate your help in my choice.
Thank you, one more time!
Carmem

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 4/17/2004
I won't be much help there, I think.... I mainly use film, and thinking of upgrading from my C5050z to a digital SLR, as you say, It'll save me quite some money in the long run...;o)

What cameras are you considering?

Cheers,

Hugo

Lucas Macedo   {K:12843} 4/17/2004
Belíssima composição, Carmem!
O gradiente de tons azuis se complementa com suavidade e forma um belo contraste com o verde da ilha. O barco com seus remadores dá movimento à composição.
Ótimo trabalho! Um abraço ..... Lucas

Carmem A. Busko   {K:48767} 4/17/2004
Carmem

Roger Williams   {K:84106} 5/3/2004
What a striking image! I love the great sense of depth, from the sea at my feet, past the men in their boat, and the island, right to the distant mountains half hidden in mist. You know how I love panoramas... well, I think this would make a very nice one with some of the nearer sea cropped away. I hesitate to show you what I mean, I'm sure you will understand. I think it would add a sense of breadth to that tremendous depth, and produce an even more powerful impression.

José Vasconcelos Dias   {K:9189} 7/7/2004
Muito bonita. A paisagem é espectacular e o barco não podia ficar melhor. Parabéns.
