About I recently noticed this grafitti-laden abandoned house in the woods near where I live, and I thought it would make a good background for a self-portrait.

I love to photograph bold colors, so I thought it would be appropriate to have them behind me in the self-portrait. Also, by coincidence, someone (perhaps another John Lennon fan?) had sprayed "imagine" just above my eye level... I figured I could use it as sort of a cartoon "thought bubble." Also, some months ago, I registered the domain ImagineTheresAnImage.com (and one of these days Real Soon Now I'll have some content there!)

It was a very nice Spring day, already over 70F/21C, but I wanted to wear my Bundeswehr jacket in honor of my German friends :-) I bought it last October at a surplus/camping store for only $20. The only problem is the very low rank!

Taken with a Soviet-made FED-3a and Jupiter 8 lens using Kodak Elite Chrome 100 slide film. I scanned the slide and made minor levels adjustment and sharpening in Photoshop.

Steve, First let me thank you for your recent kind comments... Oddly, or maybe appropriately; after only 2 or 3 minutes of reading your bio, and looking at your portfolio, I feel a connection and a pretty good understanding of your work. You have an incredible eye for color, and a natural propensity towards geographic patterns. I find these elements are the same ones that pull me into this wonderful world of Photog. Your work is not only interesting, it is obvious that it comes from your heart. You go directly into my friends folder! ..Brad

Thanks, Brad!

I think we have a lot of talent here in Central Maryland, between you, Dan, Lou, etc. I've met Lou - what a great guy! Let's get together soon.

Best regards,
SteveR
