About Sunset through the palms in a mosque in Shiraz Iran. The monument was deserted, ready for a persian night. The golden rays of the sun with the bright mosaiques of the mosque were mesmerising....

Cheers,

Hugo

Wonderful framing with just a hint of the trees, more implied than seen...I can feel the warm air.
Regards, K

nice color and shadow play here, hugo. I like the geometry in the picture as well. would love to see the picture alternatively in grey scales without the trees. cheers, thilo.

Hallo Hugo. The architecture of places like Iran really is stunning. Here another excample of these delicated details! Lighting adds a lot here because (also) of the tree's shadow! Oh my! A close up on these paints could also be very interesting!
See you my friend!

Hello, Hugo ?

I like your basic composition. The two branches in either upper corner are too little to suggest a frame for the subject, but do represent a distraction to me. The mottled effect of light filtered through the trees adds more intricate detail on top of the intricate detail of the mosaics, which also distracts me (easily distracted!). The Press 800 is probably not the best film to use in view of its color rendering and very evident grain structure, but you were probably dealing with expected low light levels.

Great composition, regards!

I really like the shadows of the palm leaves on the wall (the combination of the natural and the artificial pattern). The leaves in the upper left corner are a bit distracting to me, maybe I would haev chosen a different viewpoint and / or focal length so that they were outside the frame.

Massimo Di Maggio   {K:-56668} 5/9/2004
Not the best of the three, but not bad al all. I think the sky is a bit clear in comparison with the warm lighting of the mosquee, maybe I would have framed only the building for its fantastic details and colors, but I know you tried to compose the image in an artistical way and thus the final effect is nice. Hugs Max :)

hugo, very nice! this one reminds me of our first discussion regarding the exposure of difficult subjects. you've done a wonderful job here. i specially like the overlaying of patterns from the palm shadows and the intricate tile work. i don't think the trees are distracting at all. actually they tell me what is being projected on the wall. i do wish the sky was a bit "bluer".

take care,
tom

I like your other two better than this one, Hugo.
I like the play of contrasting lights and darks, but this image doesn't 'hold me' that way your two other ones do. :)

I DO like the detail in the shadow area, but feel like the 'hot' area is a bit too hot for my taste. (again, that's just me)

But still, a nice job.
Lori :)

I don't like this as much as I like the previous two shots, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a good one. It's just a matter of personal taste but to me it is too busy because of the strong light and shadows on the beautiful mosaics of the walls. But hey, I know you couldn't make them disappear and you probably like them. It would be very interesting to see a close up of the beautiful colours and patterns with no shadows on them.
I like the composition and the golden glow of the sunrays
Beautiful serene sky
Hugs - Emgy

Hi Hugo, Beautiful image. I like the light playing on the walls of this monument. I can feel the warmth in the air and the anticipation of the "persian" night to come. I like the attention to the detail and the fact that you have not tried to include the whole of the building/archway. Best wishes Neil
PS: I haven't been able to spend quite so much time lately in UF but am planning a trip to italy in a weeks time so hope to come back with a few Editors/Staff choice :)
Cheers from your friend at altitude, Neil
