About Just for a change, no abstract this time. This is part of my new series I've decided to name "Blue Roses", It's almost a "straight from the camera" shot. No cropping, no PS except a level check up which made the photo a tad lighter. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks for stopping by.
---- p.s. real shutter speed is 1/80

Emgy, I find this image (and the previous one) fascinating. I can see the reflection of the harbour in the window. But what is the display about? Are the blue flowers on the dummies?

Linn

This is great, I love it. Thanks for sharing. Bill and Lisa

Amna Al Shamsi   {K:20713} 5/9/2004
Again excellent ! even though i like the first one more, but this one with the reflection looks as if these ladies from old times waiting for their men to come from the boats ;-)

Jeff Cartwright   {K:52046} 5/9/2004
Hi!...Emgy: Very Femine, and Surreal Creative Photograph!....With Great Refective Effects, Emgy!!!
Best Regards:
Jeff.

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 5/9/2004
Linn, the display, in this photo, is about no objects in particular, in real life, it's about "glasses". It's an optician's shop window and, as you can see, all dummies are wearing glasses and there were a lot more glasses displayed behind that shop window. I decided to call this series "Blue Roses" cause that's what I liked most of the whole display.
Thank you

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 5/9/2004
you have excellent series here; i remember the first one and the second is excellent too; here I like the mood of the fashion world in the mannequine as layered with usual urban (marine) city

Joe Kaplan   {K:1399} 5/9/2004
Emgy, I reconize the model on the left with the scew glasses. The picture frame in the reflection is a little disturbing as it has no part of the reflection of the yathts or the models ,however I could not do any better .Good solid marrage of various subjects .I like it very much.

Roberto Arcari Farinetti   {K:176321} 5/9/2004

Bill Morgenstern   {K:7124} 5/9/2004
Emgy - This series (2) is becoming more interesting and I look forward to continued images to see how you will handle your theme. I like this shot and the variety of faces all tied together with the blue rose. Did you notice the skewed glasses on the left face? At first this bothered me but I find it adds an interesting twist to the entire picture.

I'm ready for more of these any time.

Cheers - Bill

Bradley Prue   {K:30294} 5/9/2004
Heyyyyyy..........they've been shopping at the SAME place....look at their hats!! I love shots that stump me. I'm stumped. Did they catch their boat ride???? Somebody should help them..it looks like they are all visually challenged.

Elena Zabelina   {K:23212} 5/10/2004
It's different, but very beautiful too. Wonderful idea.
My warm regards.
Lena

Rob Ernsting   {K:8919} 5/10/2004
The reflection brings the image into a mystery type situation, as a methaphor going back in time, whereas the models are futuristic. Very interesting image and abstract view it gives. The details are very nice. Best Regards, Rob.

NN     {K:26787} 5/10/2004
Your series is just great! So many pictures in just one ... as you probably can guess I love especially the blue roses. ;-)

Thanks for your comment Emgy - yes, I had a lovely Mother?s Day! Two of my three children were in Sweden (Gotland) and the third one was just sitting with his computer ... ;-) How about your MD?

xy x   {K:41915} 5/10/2004
another fantastic composition and arrangement, very attractive and effective work, amazing colour tones and contrast, splendid details and magnificent dreamy moment, congrats, best regards

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59778} 5/10/2004
Well, Egmy - I think this is great. How the dolls stand there "inside" and looking out "on us" and the reflexion on the window. Two different kind of world on the same surface. Excellent.
Jeanette

ADAM ORZECHOWSKI   {K:7951} 5/10/2004

ciao donato

cool look...

Jimmy Payne   {K:21163} 5/10/2004
Absolutely wonderful capture in this photo. For a shot of a window display it is amazing. There is sharp detail of the mannequins while capturing the scene of the dark clouds and sailing ship with their reflections.
Best wishes,
Jimmy

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184670} 5/10/2004
Hi Emgy, This is very, very impressive. Looks so much like a multiple exposure as the light seems to vary slightly in the tree faces. It almost make me doubt that you took this shot through a storefront. Very ingenious! The harbour scape in the background creates a very contrasting element; very surprising / unexpected, considering the previous one in this series. Then there are the three faces, partially overlapping, and all slightly different. That gives it away: It must be a single shot, so there goes the multiple exposure theory. Back to the reflection approach.... And then, after about a quarter of an hour, I notice your reflection in the lower left corner... A reflection! (disregarding, obviously, the project title...;o)

Bloody incredible... I think zooming in a tad more might even obscure the roof of the grey car in front. Doubt if that would work, though, and it is basically not even that important. Amazing shot... Very intriguing and inspiring!

Cheers,

Hugo

Khoi Nguyen   {K:8700} 5/10/2004
Wow, beautiful models. Excellent capture Emgy! I wish the right side was cropped a little bit more. Thanks for your latest comment on my work. Big hug to my dear friend.

Khoi Nguyen   {K:8700} 5/11/2004
Dear Emgy, believe it or not, I am still at work (it's 7:30pm here in the States). Just finished some work and getting to go home. Thought I could get some easy time by logging into usefilm. I am glad I could catch your comments before going home.

I gave you a 7. Attached will show what I gave you. The rating is totally out of whack nowadays. I am very frustrated with how long usefilm staff is fixing the problem. I am not longer interested in the rating, that is why I only get comments only. I am gonna write up some messages/emails to push usefilm staff to get this things straight ASAP.

Hope that helps. Big hug.

jon parsons   {K:13630} 5/11/2004
Dear Emgy, what a marvelously creative presentation my friend!!!! absolutely stunning....jon

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 5/11/2004
Dear Khoi
Thank you for your prompt reply. I knew that something wasn't working properly with the rating and honesly, I don't care much about it any more but I'm happy for your co-operation cause now I know for sure that the new rating system, like I had suspected for some time, really sucks. It is very annoying to see it happen with the ratings I give I am now asking myself what the point of rating a photo really is. Earlier today I commented on three photos of someone. I gave each of them a 7 cause I thought they were really good. This is what happened:
Photo 1 had 5.7 and it ramained 5.7 after my 7
Photo 2 had 5.8 and it went down to 5.7
Photo 3 had 5.7 and it became 5.8
Is there any logic in this?????
As I said, it doesn't bother me much for my own photos but I can imagine that it creates misunderstanding and feelings of annoyance to users who find rating important and see it as something incouraging/discouraging
Hugs - Emgy

Paolo De Maio   {K:34166} 5/12/2004
Paolo

Ahmet Baki Kocaballi   {K:13627} 5/12/2004
great composition ..

Tim Bronkhorst   {K:9391} 5/12/2004
Goed!
Groeten Tim.

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86479} 5/13/2004
I've missed you, Emgy and have been looking forward to your new surprise. I still maintain that this series is at least semi-abstract, even if the objects that compose it are not.
Thank youy for always chosing the right words, including for my "Mother and child"
I think that you deserve to know that the mother in the photo is the wife of my wife, rachel's late cousin's son.

B:)liana    {K:30945} 5/13/2004
Thank you my dear Emgy, you are too kind to me.
Thank you

Grazie caro Ali.

See you soon my friend!

. .   {K:16329} 5/15/2004
I've never seen anything like this that wasn't double exposed or layered in post work. It just doesn't look like a reflection at first; and that's why I think it seems so surrealistic. Your images are always intriguing but this one with the mixture of old ships, mannequins, and artificial roses may just take the prize. Wonderful picture, Emgy!!

ps This rating system does seem odd now. I'd like to see it redone completly...on a simpler scale.

Robert Currie   {K:3241} 5/15/2004
Hi Emgy, glad to see you posted a photo in your bio, but where is the Alfa Romeo?

This is now my third visit to this image!

I think this picture is better than any words in the English language, so I can't express my feelings about it. I love the threatening dark clouds, but the women don't seem too worried about them. There are plenty of interesting things in the reflection as well. Great piece of art! Robert (I'm going to give you a seven, and I hope it doesn't drag your rating down ;-)

Robert Gaither   {K:28876} 5/16/2004
Looks fine interesting composition I like it.

Ozjan Yeshar   {K:18562} 5/16/2004

Emgy, perdonami, ma istintivamente ti commento sempre in inglese (pessimo) dimenticando che tu sei italianissima (sarda?). Un saluto affettuoso. P.S. A presto.

great reflections, very nice photo

Andrea Biscosi   {K:5754} 5/19/2004
Immagine molto artistica.

Ciao, baci!!!
