This is also a distinctive image. i love the blur in the place people usually put emphasis (face) and the net attitude to hand. Hands are very expressive and I think this has nothing to do with the wedding finger as kristen said. This photo depicts feelings, authentic joy and bliss! I love it, a powerful image!! 777+

Hi James. Right on target ;-)
That background pattern really drives more attention than it should since she's turning her head that way. On my personal printings I'll burn it, maybe to reduce to a slight dark texture or deep blacks.

a beautiful moment. the note about her smile being hidden is right on: knowing she is smiling is better than seeing her smile. the shadowy pattern at right is unfortunate, because it creates a rhythm that conflicts with the spontaneous joy of the moment. you could drop in a less orderly blur from a different frame, or maybe just burn to black.

What I love about this site is this exchange of opinions, critiques. They help improve our perception to our picture's reality. Sometimes we develop such a strong relation with pictures because of the subject that we can't be neutral enough to analyse it as an image. And there's always something we don't see, no matter how much we watch it. Just like what you just saw. Thanks again!

brilliant. quite unique that you were able to capture pure joy with a hidden smile...but you surely did! i wonder how much the ring on the wedding finger adds to her happiness? i love the feel and tone, too. thanks for such a thoughtful post on my work.
