About Montréal, Québec, Canada, Spring 2004.

I was attracted by the shadows and colors. This picture was taken with a Certo-phot camera. It was built in East Germany about 40 years ago. The shutter speed is fixed and there's only 2 aperture to choose from (f/8 and f/11). It operates like an Holga camera. It is however a sturdier camera with its metal body. The shutter mechanism which goes through the film chamber appears as a little bump on the left side.

The negative was scanned with an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner.

Thanks for your comments. Regards, Claude

I can't believe someone hasn't commented on this yet...what a great combination of color and shadow!
At first glance this appears to be a sort of mosaic of different tiles. My eye is drawn immediately to the middle third of the photo and then assimilates the turnwheel arrangement. Great title.
I'm not familiar with the camera you describe, but it doesn't appear very flexible.
I like this a lot. Great vision!
congratulations,
Christopher

great shadows, colours and texture; and a mysterious something...maybe it's the title :) excellent

That is an awesome cocktail of colors, shadows, sharpnes with a great composition. Cheers! Carlheinz

It doesn't really matter, but this camera comes from the Eastern part of Germany (Certo Camerawerk Gönna & Söhne, Dresden). I think it's from the very early 60's.

Cool, I'm not usually one for color film, that's just me, but I love the subtle colors in this one...and with your Certo-phot, cool! :)

Claude, I like the pictorial characteristics of this camera. It's very unique, and you really know what subject matter takes advantage of it. And what a place! Not only do I see flowers, but it's like music you can see. A jazz piece.

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59985} 5/29/2005
Beautiful in it?s own way, with rusty details and lovely color - but the shadows are just great!
