About the neighbors, Montréal, Québec, Canada, February 4th 2004. I was attracted by the lines of the neighbors' stairs as soon as we moved in 8 years ago. I took several pictures but was never satisfied. In spring, summer and fall, there was just too many textures (grass, rocks, sidewalk) and it was ruining what I had in mind. In winter, I was trying to capture it after a snowfall but the neighbor was always faster than me at removing the snow. All I had to do was waiting for him to go to sleep. I finally took the picture around 23h00. The light came from the streetlight. It was converted to b&w to eliminate the orange color cast. Thanks for your comment. Regards, Claude

this is realy cool, reminds me of a snow globe, did you try adding more contrast? I do like the softness that is already there:)

Isn't this what you love about snow? It makes things so beautiful! I can't stand it when people mess up freshly fallen snow! Good work getting this photo :)! It was worth it...beautiful lines, shadows and tones! Great composition as well! 7! -Kessia

Awesome shot...

Ray Heath   {K:4559} 6/29/2004
wonderful image Claude, no snow here so is of great interest how the snow softens hard lines and bulks up surfaces, great composition and use of line, on my monitor contrast is very slightly soft,I would brighten highlights or increase contrast by about 5%

it is a wonderful sense of achievment to finally capture a difficult image in the way it was pre-conceived

Gerhard Reider   {K:619} 11/30/2005
You have catched the best of winter in your picture. Fresh snow, nobody has left his footprints. I can imagine how you felt after such a long time waiting.
The time (23h00) explains perhaps why the contrast is a bit dull.
Nice Regards and best wishes,
Gerhard
