Oi Caio,
Jose Azevedo

The smile is actually wonderful, as the overall portrait. Maybe I would have used a wee bit more of depth of field, to get a more gradual blur.

This image has a lovely feel to it. I love the close crop and the short depth of field really helps to bring out the emotion in the smile.

Hi Zeynep,
thanks for the comments. It was handheld, there was not much light available, the lens is slow - f4 - and the film, 32 ASA... Couldn't give it more depth of focus. A bit more would've defined more her body. But I wouldn't go further than f8 even if there weere plenty of light.
Regards,
Jose Azevedo

Hi José. Hope you had a nice eveing at home after work.
You are right, one should never stop learning...luckily, i am always curious and always want to try something new. That is also why i want people to be though on me went looking at my work, which is way i really apriciate your comment and replies. I had a second look at "smile" I really didn't think of her hands until you mentioned it...with those in mind the picture becomes much more erotic, but, her beautifull smile stole all the attention for me. Finaly, yes, my crop resulted in a tottaly difrent picture, which is ok for me, beacuse it gives me new ideas that i can use the next time i shoot. I think i like the cropped version better actually.
Have a great weekend José
Regards
Zandra

Hi Zandra,
your suggestion is fine, but it'd end up becoming another image - a nice one. As soon as I have the opportunity, I'll try it. I agree about cheeks and jaw lines. This image is cropped, I've already scanned it cropped from the original. There's more of her face. But believe me, upside down only her mouth looked that fine. Her cheeks and jaw line weren't of much interest.
"i am very much in the learning and experimenting phase at the moment...great fun :)" You should never stop or your work mgiht end up dull.
Thanks for the comment,
José Azevedo

Hi José,
Thanks for your reply and reading suggestions. So far i have only heard of Ansel Adams's zone system but i haven't read the book yet.
I think this picture is a perfect example of what you were telling me. I really like this composition but i think i would have included a bit more of her face. A bit more of her nose and her cheek bone mabye. Alternativly, i think i might would have had her a bit more in a profile, to enahnce the jaw line. Cheek bones and jaw lines can be very feminin as well as sesual in my opinion. This though, is a great inspirational photo, actually not far from something i could come up with my self...it really appeals to me. But i am very much in the learning and experimenting phase at the moment...great fun :)
Thanks for sharing
Zandra

Very nice! The smile really keeps all the attention... I'd love to see the same picrure using a nude model due to check if the attention still stays on the smile ;-)

unusual, cool angle: the result is a great detail with the right attention on the smile, thanks to the shallow dof.
well done!
