Paul....I like this shot. I like the colors. I like the crop....I am just wondering about you. Lavender railings and you know what a day lilly is????? hmmmmmmm

Paul Lara   {K:86864} 6/5/2004
My mom was wild about daylilies; along all 4 sides of the house. It was something she shared with her mom.

Don Loseke   {K:32503} 6/6/2004
This is a very powerful picture. You seem to get away with the post in the center very well. Excellent eye. Don.

Paul Lara   {K:86864} 6/6/2004
Thanks, Don. I settled on this crop because of the way I could terminate major lines at upper left and lower right, but I basically visualized this for a while, before settling on this setup.

Hi luaP! The close crop is very good, and I think the composition of colours and lines are fantastic. It creates a bit of a clutter, but a very harmonious one at that... The slow shutter speed creates a hit at camera movement, though. Maybe with a more sensitive setting, you could've used a wider DOF too, making the image a bit more graphic. Still, I do like this one. Quite unusual and refreshing.

Cheers,

Hugo

Paul Lara   {K:86864} 6/6/2004
Fortunately, Hugo, I told the railing to "wait right there; I'll be back".
I may indeed return with tripod, so I can better control my depth of field. Thanks as always for your warm advice.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 6/6/2004
I'm sure it will listen and obey. You sound very persuasive...;o)

Cheers,

Hugo

I like this mix of lines and colours, and dof is really super! Nice one! Interesting!

Burak Tanriover   {K:16604} 6/8/2004
so may lines, they are very beautiful and make a very nice composition, best regards

Patty Morena   {K:16598} 6/10/2004
Great lines. details and colours.
I really like this shot.
Congrats

Bjorn Beheydt   {K:12096} 6/10/2004
Cool abstract Paul, the play of the different colors of lines under different angles is really good. I am curious to see the result when you go back there with a tripod, not sure which would be the better photo, since I also like the effect of the unsharp lines in the background. But indeed, on the other hand, a greater DOF would create a more intens picture. I would really like to see the difference between the two versions.
In case it wasn't clear after my rambling here: Very good picture you got here Paul ;-)

Pablo    {K:5381} 6/15/2004
That's a very interesting composition. And nice colors too. I wish it was a bit sharper though. Still good pic.

Regards.

Paul Lara   {K:86864} 6/15/2004
Yes, Pablo, I plan to go back with a tripod to re-shoot this (after my vacation).

Andy Smale   {K:312} 12/18/2005
This one was well seen Paul - the various angles and colours work well together. I think you could get a cracking shot with the 20D and a tripod, really bring out those colours for impact! Just browsing through your portfolio, you've got a good eye that's not limited to any particular type of photography.

Paul Lara   {K:86864} 12/19/2005
I agree it's time to re-visit this lobby with my 20D!
