Hi Cindi, The theme Young and Old expressed in Girl vs. building, or Girl vs faded tone (or both)? The tone somewhat reminds me of a darkroom process where the stop bath has expired or skipped.
The selective lighting is superb, as is the cascaded composition, using the DOF to focus the viewers attention on the little painter. The hint at an event outside the frame adds a nice tension, and the atmosphere, partially created by the soft light, the tone and the expression of the girl is very tranquil and peaceful. Very strong photo!
