edmond lisy   {K:10311} 6/14/2004
Very nice details, the back-lit here is nice,

the butterfly's wings look transparent,

and I think very little fill-flash will better ~

edmond ^_^

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 6/14/2004
Thanks Edmond, you might be right that it's a little bit dark. But for me it depends on when I see it on screen. At nights it doesn't feel so dark but in the morning it's like if my screen is so much darker. The thing is that the light was actually very strong, but I used meetering mode so it took the light from about middle of wing. But yes, head is darker.

I like the light in the wings (pireis napi). After all I notice the lot of photographer, mainly female photgrapher, started to shut bugs . It's great. I hope it's help to understend right to live for this little 'ugly' creatures :-))))).

excellent

Graham Mulrooney   {K:16868} 6/22/2004
Great capture Kriss with perfect focus and DOF. Think though the image is grainy and the colour is a bit subdued in the butterfly. Is it a veined white?
Regards,
Graham.

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 6/22/2004
Hi Graham! Long time no see, I hope everything is fine with you!

Grainy? Well it's not totally silk smooth on my screen either, but I can't really see that it's more grainy than my other photos. I see too though that it's quite dark and would have been better a little bit more light. But the sun was extremely strong and I spot meetered the butterfly to not get it over exposed.

Thanks Graham, I really appreciate that you say what you really see!

Graham Mulrooney   {K:16868} 6/22/2004
Thanks Kriss,
everythig's fine here. Hope I've not upset you with my remarks as I think your shots are terrific.
I just looked at this one again and it looks like pixelation on the butterflies wings around the veins. Is this a blown up version of a heavily cropped image?
Regards,
Graham.
PS compare the detail here with your, "Love is Pink"

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 6/23/2004
Hello Graham! Of course you didn't upset me! What upsets me is if people see something wrong and don't say! :-)) I promise, you can say anything and it will not upset me!

I see now what you mean! Or I think I do... It's the right part of butterfly wings that are blurry/pixelised or strange. It's probably the extreme focus on face, antennas and first part of wings, that doesn't cover the back part and makes it closer to background structure than the focused part.

Graham Mulrooney   {K:16868} 6/23/2004
Thanks for your reply Kriss.
I think what I'm seeing is due to the very sharp image and may be due to the scale structure of the wings.
Regards,
Graham.

Nedim Muhic   {K:13994} 8/31/2004

Nice to meet you Kristina. Jag märkte inte ens att du är från Sverige. Kul! Var bor du, om jag får fråga? You have many very beautiful and well composed macro photos and portrait of children. (Maby your? :)).

Well I like the snow. It?s better then the grey raining winters and my son love it.
