About new highway was opened last year running parallel to a runway. Makes for sometimes interesting speed comparison.

Yes, the interesting thing about our perceptions is that the larger the jet, the slower they seem to be going. They have to slow waaay down to about 120mph to land, where cars would have to floor it just to reach their minimum speed.

Jeroen Wenting   {K:24861} 6/26/2004
Not quite. The landing speed of a 747 is roughly 160 knots, or close to 200mph.
Other jets land slower, though most will stay over 150mph.

Maximum speed on the highway here is 120kmh, or 80 mph (though most people ignore the speed limit whereever they can).

Hi Jeroen, I find this shot fascinating. Is this the A5? The duality of subjects is amazing. Great capture.

Cheers,

Hugo.

Great shot Jeroen. Youv'e captured the car and the big KLM jumbo perfectly in one shot, but the most beautiful detail in this image for me is the bird on the lamp-post, with it's wings spread out like the big plain over his head, that adds an extra point of interrest. ...Best regards, Harry
