A good photo, but what a strange house. So much glass and many windows for a Japanese home is IMO truly exceptional. I like it.

This composition has a great 3D effect. The house almost looks like it would better belong around Puget Sound. Well done.

I'm impressed that you shot this with a 21mm lens and didn't get any distortion. I haven't mastered that skill yet, and it is quite frustrating. Does shooting with fairly wide aperture reduce the leaning vertical effect?

George, its the geometry of it all that affects the leaning verticals, not the aperture. I used the lens in portrait orientation, holding it absolutely level. The top of the house JUST squeezed into the frame, as you can see. That left me with lots of empty foreground (resisting the desire to point upwards to get the house more "in the middle"). Then I cropped the unwanted foreground away, giving the squarer format. This works quite well. But you REALLY have to keep it level. I use a bubble level in the accessory shoe as I'm not too good at guessing by eye. You might like to try that as levels are cheap enough. The kind that have two bubbles and can be viewed from the side are best.

Haven't been here for quite a while, Roger, I was too busy. Found a lot of new nice shots in your portfolio and this house is very interesting.
A bit like a castel. You got that 4/21 perfectly under control I do have still alot of repair work with PS for my 4/25 shots.
