About This new Iris has just opened up in the garden and since I've just got a tripod, I thought I'd experiment a bit. Luckily the sun obliged and the rain held off!

That tripod does make all the difference. Your detail is great as is the light, resting so beautifully on the iris petal. Nice water drops too.

Hi Justine
Your "After the Rain" was much better. I feel this new image has too much background and too little of the flower. The yellow and white on the large petal is great, but the other petals are under-exposed.

Congrats on getting the tripod! I have become so used to using mine and have great difficulty shooting without it.

Thank you for your kind comment on my "Melancholy". All is well now, thank you :-)

Linn

Thanks for your comments, Linn. Looking again I see what you mean. I think I should have cropped it a little before posting. If I get chance I'll try and get some more photos before the rain comes and see if I can do better.

Beautiful graceful composition and nice rich colors. It looks like it's about to soar up out of the picture. I think it's good that you left it space to do that in the upper right.

Excellent shot - the clarity is excellent and so is the colour contrast.
